If you are a health or wellness professional, healing arts practitioner, or in a helping profession it is highly likely that you are passionate about the work you do and the care you offer.
Coming out of that industry myself I know that our motivation for our work is fueled not by financial reasons but our desire to help people. As a matter of fact, when we find our ‘sweet spot’ in the work we do, we derive such great pleasure in the giving and the caring, that we would even work for free.
But the reality is most of us have to work to make an income, so we have to charge for our services.
As a marketing coach to budding entrepreneurs in the wellness industry, I find that most practitioners in private practice, or those who own a business, want to help a lot of people and get a lot of clients. Their efforts are often focused on keeping their rates low – so they can help everyone – even those who can hardly afford their services. That, coupled with ‘their passion so great they would work for free’ – often winds up finding them broke and looking back into their industry for a J.O.B.
It is the mindset of ‘keeping their rates low to help a lot of people’ that gets them into trouble. When, in reality, if they raised their rates, showed cased their value, got more clients based on results and not services – they could be making a TON of money and helping a TON more people.
This might not make sense but here is the tactic: ‘Charge More to Serve More’ and have more to offer so you can make more money.
Millionaires, Billionaires, and Zillionaires do it all the time. The more money they make the more money they can give – and many do. Wouldn’t you enjoy that pleasure?
Here are 3 ways you can wildly profit from your passion so you can
Help More People
1. CHANGE how you charge your clients. Move from the ‘dollars for hours’ model of charging ‘per session’ and consider ‘packaging’ your work to give more value and make more money. Sample package: 3 months / 6 sessions / support calls / email access / Wellness Day / Trainings
This approach is excellent for people in our industry because we have several modalities that we work with – many tools in our tool box – and the ‘per session’ model doesn’t allow for all the modalities to shine through. Your package could also include your various offerings and modalities. It can allow you to use all your gifts!
2. TEACH what you do. People want to learn what you do – especially if they are experiencing great results. They can either be your clients who want to learn so they can maintain themselves between sessions with you (ie – essential oils, self-healing, nutrition) OR they can be other Health Care Professionals who can learn a skill from you to add to their own healing repertoire.
3. SUPPORT those who are learning from you or receiving your work. Have a ‘continuity’ program, such as a mentoring program or coaching program for either your clients or your students (if you are doing trainings for other professionals).
The time is NOW for you to make these changes in your business.
This new model and approach to offering the work you are passionate about can take you to higher levels financially and support you in helping more people.
