Are You Happy?

I’m not going to say “happiness comes from within”.

I’m not going to say “happiness is an attitude”.

And I’m really not going to say “money can’t buy happiness” (you’ll see why below).

Call this a lesson in learning about a word (happy) and see how this information can change your perspective, affect your goals, and maybe the outcome too!

There are so many definitions of happy – probably as many as there are people on this planet.

But there are a few formal definitions of ‘happy’ of which I want to share with you here.

Chose the one you like – and THEN answer the question “Are You Happy?”

Definition

#1 – delighted, pleased or glad – over a particular thing
#2 – contentment or joy
#3 – favored by fortune; fortunate or lucky
#4 – quick to use item indicated (ie trigger-happy)

The one that catches my attention is #3:  –favored by fortune – Fortunate – Lucky

Happiness actually means having fortune.

So when you are asking “are you happy?'” you are asking “are you lucky?”, “are you fortunate?”, “do you have a fortune?”

The derivative of the word happy is from the mid-14th century word ‘hap’ which means ‘chance or fortune’. And even though we think the opposite of happy is sad, in this case we would see the antonym as the word ‘haphazard’.

Haphazard means lack of order or planning, careless, disorganized, and dependent on chance. ( I’m so unhappy when I’m disorganized!)

The true origin of the word happy means ‘fortune’ or ‘wealth’, so for those of you who love to say ‘money can’t buy happiness’ you may want to rethink it – because according to this original construct ‘Happiness Is Money’!

Note from Marilee about this article: For those of you who got a bit riled up reading this about the equivalent of money and happiness, and you want to change your views / beliefs / and thoughts about money so you can manifest more in your business and your life…………consider coming to The RISE Event and check out Module 6.
