Dear Resistant (you’ll know who you are when you read this below),

I see so many Wellness Professionals and others service professionals who are extremely resistant to marketing their practice or business online – especially those who are in-person with their clients – many in the ‘caring and helping’ professions.  As a matter of fact, I’m coaching many of these folks right now (kudos to them for stepping up to overcome it!).  The commonality of this issue is remarkable.

Here are some reasons why folks resist online marketing. . .

They (and maybe you too) think:

•  it makes them appear too salesy
•  it cheapens their professional positioning with clients / prospects
•  it lowers their stature
•  people will think less of them

Most ‘resistant’ folks I know only want to do the ‘good’ work and leave the ‘nasty’ techy marketing for their sons, daughters, grand-kids,  niece or nephew who agree in a dinner conversation one night to set them up on Facebook, or build them a website….and it never happens – so the idea is dropped and they continue to stay in the outdated ‘offline world of doing business’ –  and remain stuck in their business and life struggling to make money and to ‘someday’ figure it out!

Other reasons for resistance:

• not knowing where to begin or how to get started
• comparing self to what others online, feeling intimidated and not good enough
• thinking it will never happen!  so why bother?
