My work with Marilee
I contacted Marilee three years ago as I wanted to know about Internet Marketing and all facets of what she knew about the “new way” of marketing.
My interest was heightened as I watched Marilee become more and more successful with her Young Living business and her Home Spa Lady web site. I have known her since 1992 through the American Holistic Nurses Association and Healing Touch International. We worked together on several projects on the board together and we co-chaired the HTI National Conference in 2002.
I joined her group of Inner Circle women about 3 years ago. This is a place to share business adventures. I became intrigued how so many of these women were doing business and knew how to talk about it. I spoke with her about teaching me what she knew and little by little and very quickly I knew she would be the one to guide me in this new endeavor.
I started wondering if I would ever be able to do this dream I had of understanding the “Internet”. I grew up being told to be seen and not heard and to not brag about myself. My mother was abusive and at one point she told me she would beat the spirit out of me if it was the last thing she did. Alas, she was not successful and died a very lonely woman. So, I did what I was told to do from an early age. Then being of the old school I went to nursing school and was “trained” to be a nurse. We took orders off that the doctor would write, put them on a Kardex, and follow those orders. If we ever thought of questioning a doctor’s order we had to ask the supervisor. We had to stand up in the nurse’s station and give the doctor the chair, we were told to let the doctor go through a door first if we both happened to be there at the same time. I was a very good young nurse and followed orders to the T. I married a doctor and he pretty much gave me orders on what to do in our marriage. I did what he said because I wanted to and he had wonderful ideas and was a great adventurer and taught me how to be one too. It did not seem like he was telling me what to do but in essence he did.
One day he came home and told me he had joined the Navy. I had not a question about that. I did what he said as I always had. We had a wonderful marriage and I lived and travelled all over the world, Costa Rica, Brazil and Japan, to mention a few. I worked with indigenous people and realized I had a zest for learning Languages and studying natural healing. I learned to speak all the languages of the countries that I lived in. Multicultural awareness is what I have today. I am fluent in Spanish and as a triage nurse in the emergency room; I am able to support this community over the phone about their health issues. That still did not give me the confidence I needed to step out of the shadow of myself and into my brilliance. As I started to listen to all the lessons from Marilee, huge doubts and fears arose. After all she was saying this was about me and I had to know how to present myself so that people would go to my classes to learn, listen to what I knew about the energetic healing world, and that I was an expert in the fields of holistic health and healing and of essential therapeutic oil therapy. I needed to talk about myself. I had something to say. I was not working for a company when I was doing this entrepreneur business.
Marilee has been my friend for a very long time. She did not come to where she is easily. She had a business partner that took her to bankruptcy and she had to go and live with her mother. She decided she would be in charge of her own destiny and set out to be what she has become by a lot of hard work and creativity. She is her own boss and inspiration to unknown numbers of others wanting to know what she knows.
I want to thank her for all she has taught me. The most important gift I received from her is that she encouraged me to find my own worth and find my voice to put myself out in the WORLD. I am now comfortable and enjoying the response I get. I laugh to myself and say, WOW, I found someone who believed in me more than I believed in myself and walked the path with me. I want to recommend to anyone looking for their self-worth as a healer who wants to put themselves into the WORLD. It is all about the person trusting and believing they have something of worth to talk about. She walked and supported me as I found my VOICE in the WORLD.
