I honestly didn’t plan it this way…..but it couldn’t have turned out better…..
This is a partial pic of our beautiful group – will repost
when professionals shots come in!
International Nurses Week started with Monday, May 6th, the day we recognize as the ‘day’ to salute all the nurses of the world we know, love, and appreciate (and that includes celebrating ourselves my dear fellow nurses!).
Also starting on May 6th was The RISE Event – a 3 day seminar I produced to educate nurses and other wellness professionals how to package their passion and promote their work, businesses, and practices online through information products like audio, video, and social media to reach ideal clients.
Over 60 women and a few wonderful men, from all over the country and Canada, met in Mt Laurel NJ for 3 days to learn to Reach Independence through Self Empowerment (RISE) by learning about tools, skills, and strategies to Share Their Care – Online and Everywhere – so they can make more money and still make a difference.
I did an EntrepreNURSING Marketing Diagnosis on stage for a few people chosen from the audience (here I am in my Nurses Cap with my lab coat and ‘pink’ stethoscope) ‘assessing’ the websites and branding and I gave a RISE-suscitation to these brave women who allowed me to ‘dissect’ what they are doing in their businesses.
I’m working with Dr. Joanna Carmichael who is also a nurse.
On the evening on May 6th we had a high-energy musical fashion show where beautiful models sang and strutted gorgeous clothing and my VIP clients joined them on the catwalk too!

This fashion show was a benefit for the MJ Tolen Scholarship Fund housed at Samaritan Hospice.
About the MJ Tolen Scholarship Fund (written from Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice)
When Marilee Tolen’s father was approaching the end of his life, she employed her vast experience with Holistic and Integrative Medicine to help relieve the pain and symptoms of his emphysema. Nine months before his death, the family sought the help of Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice (then known as Samaritan Hospice). She wrote that the nine months of hospice care “allowed the integration of medical care and complementary therapies in the context of our belief structures and choices…” Her dad said about his impending death, “This is the way it should be, Marilee. Tell the world about this.” She carried out her father’s dying wish by creating a fund to inform, educate and empower healthcare professionals and others interested in gaining access to knowledge and resources pertaining to Complementary Therapies in End-of-Life Care. Because her father and mother’s initials were MJ, the fund now honors both her parents.
For more information about Samaritan, see www.Samaritanhealthcarenj.org. Donations to the fund should be made out to Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice, noting the Tolen Fund in the memo.
I can’t think of a better way to honor nursing on International Nurses Day than to empower nurses to help more people and make more money with their gifts, talents, and skill.
